Picture My Life (Technique Blog Hop)

For the Technique Blog Hop this month, we are showing different ways to use the themed Picture My Life scrapbook programs from Close To My Heart.

If you arrived from Debi's "The Other Sister" blog, then follow along with the link at the bottom of this post to continue the Technique Blog Hop.

Do you sometimes need to create a card, and only have about five minutes?  That is all the time this took, using two cards from the Balloon Ride Picture My Life program, a 6"x6" card base, and a strip of Chocolate Woodgrain Washi Tape.  Most of the design is already printed on the Picture My Life cards, and the only stamped image is the cute tandem bicycle from the School Years set.  Since the corners of the Picture My Life cards are rounded, a Corner Rounder was used on the card base to create the same look.

Each Picture My Life scrapbooking program touches on a theme, but also incorporates everyday titles and designs to capture a wide variety of memorable moments.  Mix and match the cards' fronts and backs with your photos to create the perfect groupings for your story.  Each themed program includes 122 double-sided cards in 3"x4" and 4"x6" horizontal and vertical designs, and a 12"x12" cover page to bring it all together.

Please visit Joy's "....Wow....did you make that?" blog for another entry in this month's Technique Blog Hop featuring a Picture My Life Scrapbooking Program.

A Teddy Bear Birthday

This adorable teddy bear is available in the Teddy Bear Birthday stamp set, along with an adorable hat and other accessories.  With his big Creme Brûlée colored bow, he is paired with some patterned paper from the Balloon Ride kit for Color My Heart Color Dare #96.  The card sketch is a Retro Sketches (RS117) challenge.

Triple Challenge!

This card combines three challenges:  a sketch, a color combo, and the number 5.  Colors used are Sweet Leaf and Crystal Blue from Color My Heart Color Dare #92, and the sketch is CAS(E) this Sketch #74 (CTS74).  Flourish images are found in the Swirls Around stamp set and the sentiment is from Joyful Birthday.  To add a bit of texture to the background, a printed paper from the Balloon Ride kit is used.  With five colored sparkles, it is a Take 5! for the Heart 2 Heart Challenges blog. Rounding two of the corners is an easy way to create a more "soft" look.

UPDATE:  This card was chosen as the Emerald Winner for Color My Heart Color Dare #92!

Feathers (New Product Blog Hop)

Welcome to our New Product Blog Hop, brought to you by the same ladies who participate in the monthly Stamp-of-the-Month Blog Hop.  To show how versatile they are, this card uses the same two stamp sets which are used in my "A Feather Wish" blog post.  The different colors and papers create completely different looks.

If you arrived here from Wendy's 'My Scrapbooking Blog,' you are hopping through our circle of more than 20 Close To My Heart consultants sharing their projects using new papers, stamps, and other produced just introduced in the CTMH Spring/Summer Idea Book.

Soft colors in the Balloon Ride papers create a soothing look.  Two of the images in the Feathers stamp set were each inked with Crystal Blue and then 'rolled' in Saddle ink for some dimension.  A masking technique was used to create the illusion that one feather is behind the other.

A two-part sentiment in the Belated Birthday stamp set is used on the front of the card and completed on the inside.

Please visit the 'HeatherJaneDesign' blog to continue along our Blog Hop featuring new products in the Spring/Summer Idea Book.

Up, Up, and Away

The Friday Mashup for this week (FM145) is to create a project with sponging, using their sketch.  It is a nice sketch and is perfect to use for larger stamp images.

Beautiful paper from the new Balloon Ride kit provide the perfect background for the hot air balloon.  Saddle pigment ink and a Clear Detail Embossing power was used for the beautiful balloon image from the new Give a Lift stamp set.  Markers added a bit of color, and the sentiment was embossed using Sorbet pigment ink and Clear Detail Embossing power.  Using the embossing powder results in a nice, slightly raised image with a bit of a sheen.  In order to soften the overall card and to provide some definition to the edges of the patterned papers, Sorbet ink was sponged around the edges of all the papers.

My favorite part of the card is the hot air balloon on the inside lifting up and away.
