Snowflakes (Technique Blog Hop)

For the Technique Blog Hop this month, we are showcasing the Spray Pen from Close To My Heart.  These can be used to mist your projects with a mix of water, reinker and/or Create-a-Shade Pearl Paint.

If you arrived from Wendy's "My Scrapbooking Blog" blog, then follow along with the link at the bottom of this post to continue the Technique Blog Hop.

Using an overlay cut using the Artbooking Cricut cartridge is a great way to add a background to your project.  Instead of adhering the snowflake overlay to my card, I used it as a "mask" by placing it over a piece of Sky cardstock.  A few drops of Crystal Blue reinker, rubbing alcohol, and some Pearl Paint were added to a Spray Pen and then shaken to mix well.  Spritz a few times over the card with the Spray Pen and when the overlay is removed, snowflakes with a bit of sheen create a nice background.

To finish the card, a sentiment from the Frosted Cardmaking Workshop stamp set was added with Pacifica ink along with some of the snowflakes which were removed from the overlay before using it as a mask.  Blue Sparkles add just a bit more 'shine' to the card.

Please visit Debi's "The Other Sister" blog for another entry in this month's Technique Blog Hop featuring the Spray Pen from Close To My Heart.

May Your Days Be Merry & Bright (in Barn Red)

What an honor!  My 'Autumn Tree' card was chosen as the Diamond winner for Color Dare #69 on the Color My Heart blog, and I was asked to be a Guest Designer for Color Dare #72.
Color Dare #72 is to use Barn Red along with neutrals, so I paired it with Champagne cardstock.  The gorgeous sentiment is from the Frosted Cardmaking Workshop stamp set and is stamped in Barn Red ink.  A scallop frame was cut from Glitter Paper using the Artbooking Cricut cartridge.

After the trees were stamped using Cashmere ink, some Glitz Glitter Gel was spread on the background area using a Cricut spatula.  Post-it notes masked the area reserved for the sentiment so that it does not have the snowy sparkle of the background.  Even though it is difficult to see in the photo, the snowflake cluster stamp from the Frosted Carding Workshop was stamped using Bamboo ink to fill the background above the trees before the glitter was added.

In this photo, the 6"x6" Kraft card is open so that the entire front can be seen.  The envelope was decorated with a bit of the Chocolate wood grain Washi Tape which is also used on the flap and inside of the card.

Gingham and Kraft and Sparkle!

Hope you have a Holly Jolly sparkly Christmas!
While cleaning and organizing my Stamp Room a few weeks ago, I found some gingham ribbon which had been forgotten.  When I saw that the Friday Mashup! was to use Kraft paper and gingham (FM137), I knew just where to find the ribbon.  The bright colors are a nice contrast to the Kraft.

A frame for the sentiment was cut from Pear cardstock using the Artbooking Cricut cartridge.  In order to add some pizazz, two different colors from the Brown & Tan Glitter Paper pack are used behind the bright colors.  'Have a Holly Jolly Christmas' is included in the Frosted Cardmaking Workshop stamp set and was stamped using Cotton Candy ink.  Card is designed using this week's Mojo Monday sketch (MOJO322).
