Special Care (December SOTM Blog Hop)

Welcome to our Stamp of the Month Blog Hop which features the Special Care stamp set from Close To My Heart.  This stamp set contains 6 images which are designed to resemble laundry care tags.  My creation combines the "Gently Wash" image with an adorable hippopotamus to welcome a new baby to the family.

If you have come here from Jen's Gina's Little World of StampinHeaven blog, you are on the right path!  Blog Hopping is simple to do - just click on the link at the end of the post on each blog to move to the next one!
My creation combines the "Gently Wash" image from Special Care with an adorable hippopotamus from Wild Wonders to welcome a new baby to a family.  Patterned papers are from the ProPlayer kit and are used with Pacifica cardstock and some Black Glitter Paper.  For some added detail, the Stitch Guide was used to create a pattern along the edge where the two patterned papers meet.  Once the holes were punched, this was hand-stitched with some Waxy Flax.

Place a $50 minimum order this month and you are eligible to purchase the Stamp-of-the-Month Special Care for only $5.

My Happy Place

Finally, the last set of pages for the Album Retreat which Close To My Heart held in October.  Hope you have enjoyed seeing all of my completed scrapbook layouts!

All of the pages for the Album Retreat were designed by the CTMH Art Department and include multiple cuts from the Artbooking Cricut cartridge as well as papers from different CTMH kits with a mixture of embellishments and stamp sets.  Even though each page is very detailed, it was fun and challenging to create each of them.  Click on any of the photos for an enlarged view.

My Happy Place
For the 'My Happy Place' layout, I chose photos from many different places that I have visited as well as our home.

My Happy Place (left page)
There are a lot of details on these two pages.  The polka-dot paper is from the Sparkle & Shine kit.  Circles behind both of the Outdoor Denim overlays include patterned paper from the Frosted and Sarita kits along with a variety of cardstock colors, some of which were stamped with images from the Geometric Backgrounds and Take Note stamp sets. Framework Alphabet was used to stamp the title, and sentiments from All the Details add a small touch to each page.

My Happy Place (right page)
Embellishments include pieces from the My Crush Best Day Ever Assortment, Baker's Twine, Lagoon Houndstooth Washi Tape, Sparkles, Bronze Shimmer Trim, and some of the Base & Bling Word Accents.

Be sure to follow my blog to see all of the completed pages which I will be sharing throughout the month of November.

On This Day

On This Day
'On This Day' scrapbook pages from the Close To My Heart Album Retreat showcase photos from a trip my husband and I took to San Francisco.   As with several of the other pages, a few spritzs from a Spray Pen mixed with Slate reinker and water add texture to the background.

On This Day (left page)
To add texture to the heart banner and Pear banner on the right page, stamps from Geometric Backgrounds were used. The only other stamping is the word 'smile' from the Take Note stamp set, which is included with the Artbooking Bundle.

On This Day (right page)
No patterned paper is used for this layout, just different colors of cardstock.  The 'word bubble' journaling piece is available in the My Crush Best Day Ever Assortment which has been used with several of the pages for this Album Retreat project.

Artbooking Overlay Cards

Love the simplicity of the card sketch this week on the CAS(E) This Sketch blog.  When I saw it, I knew that I wanted to use an overlay from the Artbooking Cricut cartridge as the rectangle shape on the CTS#55 sketch.  Actually created two cards using this sketch, and it is fun to see how different they look from each other.

For this Thanksgiving card, an overlay from the Artbooking Cricut cartridge was cut using Honey cardstock.  To add some more interest, Washi Tape with a wood grain is behind the overlay.  The sentiment is from Holiday Tags and was stamped using Chocolate pigment ink, then embossed with Clear Detail Embossing Powder.  This gives the image a bit of depth so that it really stands out on the Kraft cardstock.   As a finishing touch, some flowers from Garden Wooden Shapes were added with Mocha Opaques in the center of each.

As my Cricut machine was cutting the overlay for the Thanskgiving card, I thought of cutting an overlay with Glitter Paper.  This black & white card has just a pop of color with an Artbooking overlay cut from a sheet of Green Glitter Paper.  Black cardstock is behind the overlay for contrast, and the sentiment is also from the Holiday Tags stamp set.  In order to complement the rounded edges of the overlay and embellishments, a Corner Rounder was used on all four corners of the card.

Beautiful Young People ... Beautiful Old People

Having my Stamp Room cleaned up and organized motivates me to sit down and create cards more often.  Last night, I used Freshly Made Sketches #113 as inspiration.

The card base is simply White Daisy cardstock.  On a narrower piece of White Daisy a sentiment from Scrapbook Statements-Women was stamped using Slate ink.  A "post-it note" was used as a mask so that images from the Honeycomb stamp set could be added using Cotton Candy and Whisper ink.  Cotton Candy Washi Tape with large circles was used with a layer of Slate Washi Tape with smaller circles for the border as shown on FMS113 sketch.

This was a very quick and easy card to create.  It was fun to just use a small amount of stamping and some Washi Tape for added color.  Washi Tape is certainly my favorite embellishment right now.  It is so easy to use, you get a large quantity on the roll, and it adds such a nice touch to projects.

This is my second entry with the Freshly Made Sketches blog and I really enjoy creating their 'clean & simple' cards.  There is a "linky" on their website with thumbnails of other entries for this week's sketch.  Click on any of them to go to the blog post for more details.

10 Things I Love

10 Things I Love
For the '10 Things I Love' layout at Album Retreat, the "homework" assignment was 10 small photos.  Naturally, I selected a variety of Avery photos.

10 Things I Love (left page)
Very little stamping was needed to prepare for these pages, just the arrow from All the Details stamp set.  As with several of the pages, a patterned paper from the Sarita kit is used with some colored cardstock.

10 Things I Love (right page)
For the background of both pages, an overlay from the Artbooking Cricut cartridge was used as a 'mask' while some Slate re-inker mixed with water was spritzed on the White Daisy cardstock using a Spray Pen.  A journaling pen was used to free-hand an outline around several of the cut pieces.  The "I Love" letters are from the My Crush Best Day Ever Assortment.
