Baroque Borders (August SOTM Blog Hop)

Welcome to our Stamp of the Month Blog Hop which features the Baroque Borders stamp set from Close To My Heart.  With ornate corner pieces and decorate flourishes, this SOTM is a great way to complement many of your creative designs.

If you have come here from Haley's 'The Inky Scrapper' blog, you are on the right path!  With almost 60 Close To My Heart Consultants sharing their creations, you will see many different uses for this stamp set.  Blog Hopping is simple to do - just click on the link at the end of the post on each blog to move to the next one!

In order to really focus on the Baroque Borders stamp set on this card, I chose to keep it very simple.  Using the wonderful new pigment ink from Close To My Heart in Smoothie color, ornate images were stamped in two of the corners of a 6"x6" card made using the new Cashmere color of card stock.  Sky pigment ink was then used to stamp a portion of the corner image onto a bird from the Garden Wooden Shapes.  A tiny brown Sparkle was used for the eye of the bird.  To complete the card, a small sentiment from one of the stamp sets that is included in the new Cricut Artiste Collection was used.

Now "Hop" on over to Mary's '..... me stamp 2 .....' blog to see her work!  Be sure to visit all the Consultants at their blogs to get some great crafting inspiration and other fun ideas!  Remember, the Baroque Borders stamp set is only available during the month of August 2012.  The regular price is $17.95, or you can purchase it for only $5 with a minimum order of $50 in other CTMH products.

If you get lost on the Blog Hop or find links that aren't working, there is a complete list of all participating blogs on Helen's 'Hooked on Stamping' blog.

Do You have SUPER Powers?

This was a very fun card to create.  The hero from the Super Powers stamp set is standing high above the city skyline, waiting to protect the citizens.

All stamp images and papers used are from Close To My Heart (CTMH).

Relief From the Heat - Card Workshop

Ready to take a break from the heat and create some fun greeting cards?  Join us in my cool basement stamping room where you can create twelve unique, personalized cards for only $10.

A very fun stamp set introduced in the Spring/Summer Idea Book is entitled Super Powers.  It includes a cartoon super hero figure and captions along with a skyline.  The skyline looks fabulous just stamped on a card.  It has such depth and nice detail.  For this card, I simply mounted the card on a piece of Cranberry card stock for contrast and added some ribbon.  It can be used as a birthday, thinking of you, safe travels, or any theme you would like.   The coordinating envelope is stamped the same as the card front.

One of my favorite papers is this striped piece from the Florentine kit.  It makes a great background for the A Tree stamp.  This stamp set is only $6.95.  It includes the tree, sentiment, and a small butterfly.  For this card, a Flutter Paper Shape is used and some small self-adhesive pearls are added for the body.

These truly fun little 3"x3" cards use the same Florentine paper - it is simply the backside of the stripe paper used for the A Tree card.  The adorable animals are from the Zoology stamp set.  Give one to someone special simply to brighten their day, or the small size is great to accompany a gift.  At the workshop, you will create four of these cards, your choice which animal you stamp!

“Relief From the Heat” Card workshop will be offered this weekend - July 27 & 28.  The Friday evening class will start at 7 pm, and there will be two sessions on Saturday.  One starting at 9 in the morning and the second one at 1 in the afternoon.  You will create four of each of the three projects (total 12 cards and envelopes) for a workshop fee of $10.  Allow approximately two hours to complete your projects.  Please be sure to bring your favorite adhesive.  All other supplies are provided with the workshop fee.  All stamps and papers used are from Close To My Heart (CTMH).

Everyone who attends will also receive a FREE copy of the Close To My Heart Autumn/Winter Idea Book & Catalog with new products available August 1.  There is a fabulous new Cricut cartridge available this year - it is named Artiste and includes 700 new images!  As an added bonus, if you place a $50+ order, your workshop fee is waived.

Please let me know if you would like to attend.  Feel free to leave me a comment on this blog, send an email to sheilabennett@comcast.net, or call 913-485-4355.

Life's A Journey

Last Saturday, I spent 12 hours stamping with some fellow stamping enthusiasts. Even though the temperature outside reached 107 degrees, we were cool and comfortable in our creative space.

One of my favorite creations of the day is this card using the fabulous argyle paper from the Cruisin kit along with the Horizons stamp set. Think this will be a nice card for my grandfather as he begins his journey in an assisted living facility.
