Feathers (New Product Blog Hop)

Welcome to our New Product Blog Hop, brought to you by the same ladies who participate in the monthly Stamp-of-the-Month Blog Hop.  To show how versatile they are, this card uses the same two stamp sets which are used in my "A Feather Wish" blog post.  The different colors and papers create completely different looks.

Soft colors in the Balloon Ride papers create a soothing look.  Two of the images in the Feathers stamp set were each inked with Crystal Blue and then 'rolled' in Saddle ink for some dimension.  A masking technique was used to create the illusion that one feather is behind the other.   

A two-part sentiment in the Belated Birthday stamp set is used on the front of the card and completed on the inside.

Robin Redbreast

Color Dare #80, using Ruby, Sunset and Cotton Candy inks, is my first submission as a new member of the Design Team on the Color My Heart Color Dare blog.

This gorgeous bird is available in the new Believe in Yourself stamp set.  He is inked with Saddle and then a bit of Ruby ink was sponged to create a 'red breast' for a robin. Some patterned paper from the Lollydoodle kit along with ribbon and a corduroy brad from the Sunset Mini-Medley Accents adds a bit of texture.  Pattern #21 in Make It From Your Heart, Volume 1 was the inspiration for the card design.  

One of my favorite images in the Believe in Yourself stamp set is the fancy, detailed corner on the lower left of the front of the card and inside on the upper right.

Up, Up, and Away

The Friday Mashup for this week (FM145) is to create a project with sponging, using their sketch.  It is a nice sketch and is perfect to use for larger stamp images.  

Beautiful paper from the new Balloon Ride kit provide the perfect background for the hot air balloon.  Saddle pigment ink and a Clear Detail Embossing power was used for the beautiful balloon image from the new Give a Lift stamp set.  Markers added a bit of color, and the sentiment was embossed using Sorbet pigment ink and Clear Detail Embossing power.  Using the embossing powder results in a nice, slightly raised image with a bit of a sheen.  In order to soften the overall card and to provide some definition to the edges of the patterned papers, Sorbet ink was sponged around the edges of all the papers.  

My favorite part of the card is the hot air balloon on the inside lifting up and away.

A Feather Wish [CTMH Blog Boosters]

My favorite new stamp set in the Spring/Summer 2014 Idea Book is Feathers.  This stamp set includes five different feather images for varied projects.  For this card, I wanted it to be bright and fun, so markers were used to color portions of the feather to coordinate with the Lollydoodle papers.  A sentiment from the Belated Birthday stamp set is used on the front of the card, and completed on the inside.  A strip of pink Glitter Paper adds some sparkle to the design which was inspired by Pattern #26 from Make It From Your Heart, Volume 2.

Smoothie Stripes

A very clean & simple sketch for this week at CAS(E) this Sketch (CTS#62).  

Using Smoothie Washi Tape was a quick way to create the diagonal stripe on the card.  A birthday sentiment from the Belated Birthday stamp set was added to the front using Black ink and the entire strip adhered to the card, which was made using Smoothie cardstock.  Then it was simple to use scissors to cut the excess portion of the diagonal strip off at the corners of the card.

Good Job!

Another week, another color dare on the Color My Heart Blog, we are at Color Dare #79 which includes the colors; Creme Brûlée, Goldrush, Olive, and Twilight.  It was a bit of a challenge working with all four of these colors.  

Inspiration came in the form of FMS #121 on Freshly Made Sketches.  It is a simple design with some geometric shapes.   To add a bit of texture to the Goldrush circle, an image from Holiday Tags was stamped using Goldrush ink to frame the circle.  The Good Job Stencil image was stamped using Twilight Pigment Ink and then Clear Detail Embossing Powder was melted on top of the ink to create a nice edge for the letters.  Markers in all four of the Color Dare #79 colors were used to create a slight hombre effect on the letters.  

This great little Good Job Stencil stamp is one of our new "M" (for mini) size and the cost is only $2.95.  Even for that low price, a plastic envelope is included to store your stamp, just like the envelopes for our other stamp sets, except this one is smaller at just 3"x3".
